The Nissan X-Trail (Japanese: 日産・エクストレイル Nissan Ekusutoreiru) is a compact crossover SUV produced by the Japanese automaker Nissan since 2000. In third generation, it is a three row (which means seven seater) SUV. It was one of Nissan's first crossovers and was released about the same time as several other companies'...
The fourth-generation X-Trail was revealed at the Auto Shanghai in China on April 19, 2021, nearly a year after its Rogue counterpart was launched in North America in June 2020. ^ Carter, Melanie (2005-07-20).
It’s the only seven-seat electrified SUV in its segment. Quite what segment that is exactly seems open to debate, though: as rivals, Nissan cites Toyota’s RAV4 - which it used as a benchmark for this fourth-generation X-Trail - as well as the likes of the Skoda Kodiaq, Mazda CX-5 and VW Tiguan Allspace.
Previously a boxy, quite serious off-roader, the Nissan X-Trail is now essentially a beefed-up Qashqai. The pair share a platform, but the X-Trail is noticeably higher and longer than the Qashqai, and there’s an optional third row of seats. This means it effectively replaces the Qashqai+2 as Nissan’s seven-seat SUV.
